A Pre-Publish Review Checklist for Clean Videos

Cleaning the audio is one step. This checklist covers the rest of what viewers—and platforms—will see.

A clean audio track is the obvious part of a clean video, but it is rarely the only part that matters. Platforms, sponsors, schools and clients look at the whole upload. Run through this list before you hit publish.

Audio

  • Every selected word is covered in the exported file, not just in the project preview.
  • No partial words are left at the start or end of each censor moment.
  • Background music doesn’t contain explicit lyrics you missed.
  • The opening seconds are checked with extra care—they are what most viewers hear first.

Captions and subtitles

  • Uploaded subtitle files match the clean audio. If you export cleaned SRT subtitles, upload those rather than the originals.
  • Automatic captions generated by a platform can transcribe a word you bleeped. Review them after upload and edit where needed.

Picture

  • On-screen text, lower thirds, chat overlays and memes don’t repeat the words you removed.
  • Mouthed words in close-ups are acceptable for your audience—or covered.
  • Sensitive visuals are handled. For nudity, see the AI nudity censor workflow.

Title, thumbnail and description

  • The title and thumbnail text are consistent with the clean version.
  • Descriptions, tags, pinned comments and chapter titles are checked too.

Rights and versions

  • You own or have permission to use every clip and song in the video.
  • The uncensored master is archived separately and clearly named.
  • If you deliver to a client, the file name says which version it is.

Platform guidance

Platform rules change. Read the current official guidance for the platform you publish to—for YouTube, the advertiser-friendly content guidelines—rather than relying on second-hand summaries. Cleaning language helps, but no single editing step guarantees monetization or reach; platforms decide based on the complete video and its context.
